Apollo Technical has an immediate need for a CAD Designer to support our client, a global leader in the design and manufacturing of advanced environmental and air filtration systems for heavy equipment, at their Jacksonville, FL facility.
Position Overview
In this role, you will act as a critical technical link supporting application engineering and product implementation activities. As a CAD Designer, your focus will be on the “stuff”—developing detailed technical drawings, 2D/3D models, installation schematics, and customer-specific mounting solutions to integrate advanced filtration systems into heavy industrial machinery. You will work cross-functionally with sales, manufacturing, and external OEM engineering teams to translate complex application requirements into accurate, manufacturable, and field-ready designs.
Key Responsibilities
-
2D/3D Modeling & Design: Develop detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software to support customer applications and product integration.
-
Application & Mounting Solutions: Create customer-specific layouts, installation schematics, and mounting designs that adapt standard products to a variety of rugged operating environments.
-
Manufacturing Documentation: Prepare precise fabrication drawings, assembly layouts, bills of materials (BOMs), and detailed installation instructions.
-
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner directly with Application Engineers, Sales, and external customers to gather mechanical requirements and establish installation constraints.
-
Engineering Change Support: Facilitate new product introductions (NPI) and engineering change activities by updating drawings, system records, and design revisions.
-
Shop & Field Support: Assist manufacturing teams to resolve design-related issues, improve overall manufacturability, and troubleshoot field installation challenges.
-
Project Management: Simultaneously manage multiple design projects while maintaining tight revision control and adhering to project deadlines.
Required Qualifications
-
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, or a related discipline is preferred; equivalent hands-on experience will be considered.
-
Experience: 3+ years of direct CAD design or drafting experience within a manufacturing, industrial, or technical engineering environment.
-
Software Tools: High proficiency using mainstream CAD design platforms, such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Inventor.
-
Technical Standards: Solid operational command of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and the ability to read/generate electrical schematics.
-
System Familiarity: Basic understanding of fabrication methods, mechanical systems, manufacturing processes, and ERP revision control systems.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Our “Green Flag” candidate is a detail-oriented drafter with a background in the heavy equipment, industrial machinery, or OEM manufacturing sectors. We need someone with the technical “grit” to look at complex customer blueprints, identify design constraints, and quickly build custom bracketry or layout solutions. Experience working within a high-growth, fast-paced environment where you must interface directly with production floors and customer engineering departments is highly desirable.
