The floor matters here. For comparison, mechanical engineers in the same metro earn a median of $99,660, which is $4,080 below industrial engineers.

What the spread means in practice: Tampa’s industrial engineer median is $100,670, which is $3,070 below Miami’s. Tampa’s 10th percentile is $62,770, $12,720 below Miami’s, and its 90th percentile is $144,030 against $163,020. Candidates relocating from Tampa Bay for a Miami offer will see the largest gain at the entry and senior ends.
