Apollo Technical has an immediate need for a Senior Electrical Engineer in Gainesville, GA

Senior Electrical Engineer (P.E.) – Commercial & Industrial Construction

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Georgia-licensed Electrical Engineer P.E. to join and lead our engineering team. This role focuses on electrical system design and analysis for commercial and industrial building construction projects. You will work on typical building/facility electrical systems (generally 600V and below), including power distribution, interior/exterior lighting, and emergency/standby power. Fire alarm and low-voltage systems will be coordinated with other engineers or bases of design for systems for bidding purposes.

This position offers the exciting opportunity to engage in all sides of the engineering process—from initial design and detailed analysis through supporting our construction teams and documenting as-builts—while leveraging advanced building technologies software for enhanced insights, maintenance integration, and operational optimization. This complete end-to-end experience sharpens your skills as a practical, well-rounded engineer and positions high performers for long-term growth, including a clear path to equity ownership in the firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • System Design: Design complete electrical systems for new construction and renovation projects, including power distribution, interior/exterior lighting, emergency/standby power, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.

  • Documentation & Analysis: Prepare detailed construction documents, specifications, load calculations, short-circuit studies, arc-flash analyses, and coordination reports using Revit, SKM Power Tools, and/or industry-standard software.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate daily with architects, structural, mechanical, and fire protection engineers, project management, and construction field personnel throughout the design and construction phases.

  • Lifecycle Project Management: Actively participate in the full project lifecycle by conducting site visits, reviewing submittals and shop drawings, responding to RFIs, and providing back-end support of drawings for construction crews.

  • Field Integration: Leverage exposure to the construction side of projects to gather real-world feedback that sharpens engineering judgment, working closely with field teams to develop and implement best practices.

  • Compliance: Ensure all designs meet the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA standards (including 70E and 70B), local building codes, energy codes, and client requirements.

  • Review & Mentorship: Participate in value engineering and constructability reviews while providing leadership and mentorship to junior staff.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required.

  • Licensure: Active Georgia P.E. license required.

  • Experience: 5+ years of direct experience as an Electrical Engineer on building construction MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) projects for commercial or industrial facilities.

  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency with Revit, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and SKM Power Tools. (Note: AutoCAD experience alone is not sufficient; it comprises less than 1% of the work in this role).

  • Technical Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 70B, and building electrical systems.

  • Professional Skills: Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced engineering and construction environment.

What We Offer

  • Compensation: Competitive base salary of $135,000 – $165,000 (commensurate with experience) plus a performance bonus.

  • Sign-On Support: Sign-on bonus or relocation assistance of $10,000 – $12,000 (subject to a standard two-year repayment agreement).

  • Benefits: Full benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and a 401(k) with a generous company match.

  • Balance & Growth: Paid time off, holidays, and professional development support.

  • Equity Opportunity: High-performing engineers may be offered equity participation in the firm after completing a multi-year commitment, structured through a standard Shareholder Agreement with a traditional vesting schedule.

  • Career Advancement: Career growth on exciting, high-profile local construction projects with significant autonomy and project ownership.
